Marie Carter has been a middle and high school educator specializing in students struggling with in-school suspensions for over 15 years. In her time at Caprock High School and Sam Houston Middle School, she has sought to meet the needs of vulnerable students with "round up" meetings that encourage the connection of hearts and minds while providing space for self-awareness and deeper connection. She is certified in bully prevention and has been passionate about teacher ethics training. In addition to her career in the education system, Marie Carter has been a foster care mother of 3 for 6 years, has one daughter, and is a devoted wife of 30 years of marriage. She is a worship leader at Trinity Fellowship Church. She is based in Amarillo, Texas.
Wishing she had a positive role model, and a safe and available person in school who would empower her, Marie Carter has sought to authentically reach out to kids in need of support of meeting basic needs and solving social problems in a timely manner.
She is highly skilled at listening well and sharing higher guidance that are relatable to children and students. Marie Carter understands that addressing personal shame and the feeling of being isolated and lonely in school, can be a minimal priority in education while schools are trying to meet high demands of academic and intellectual success.

Marie Carter is seeking to address the fears that both students and teachers may have that prevent them from embodying their true and authentic selves by creating more deeply integrated connections. In 2021, at the height of the COVID pandemic, Marie noticed a visible drop in students in classes - dropping even as low as under 10 students daily. In order to invite students back to school, Marie Carter was on a mission to listen to the kids and gift them space to speak about their fears and challenges. In her surveying, she discovered that most simply, students needed a place to be themselves, a place to get out of trouble, and a safe place to talk freely. They were bored and there were few opportunities to engage with peers and nothing good to celebrate.
Marie imagined breathing life back into the youth and school communities by gifting practical and culturally relevant guidance that is relatable, meets people where they are, and inspires a sense of belonging. Families needed support, and she was determined to fight for them so that they continued to fight for themselves. After the birth of her nonprofit, SRocC initiated the SRocC Christmas Tree community engagement initiative which has gifted thousands of individuals and families. Marie seeks to take SRocC to global outreach that will serve millions of families worldwide where language and cultural barriers will be broken, and more communication and connection restored. She prays that SRocC will be a testimony and inspiration to any child, parent, and the world because no one deserves to experience the pain of isolation or rejection and suffer in silence alone.
SRocC has successfully worked with diverse students experiencing struggles and challenges with low self-esteem, and are in need of more personal support and encouragement. Marie has built long-lasting relationships with her students and has been able to witness their journey from in-school suspension rooms, to college graduations and public service work where they are now caring for communities they once felt rejected by.
SRocC has also partnered with organizations supporting the formerly incarcerated and unhoused, including the Safe Home for Women housing transition program and Kairos Outside. Marie seeks to work with more schools to help create plans that foster more connected development and to help more ISS teachers facilitate strategic round-ups, workshops, events, fundraising campaigns, and more authentic interpersonal relationship building.
SRocC is built on the pillars of intention, collaboration, and respect. Family and colleagues of Marie Carter will tell you that her spirit and work ethic are self-assured, direct, transparent, confident, passionate, loving, open, generous, and gracious. Marie is gifted at getting closer to the hearts of others with respect and rationality. She is holding community leaders and schools accountable with compassion and understanding.
The future vision of SRocC is to see more community events, celebrations, integration, love, affection, genuineness, creative spaces, and abundance for all. SRocC is encouraging communities to take responsibility with honor and glory to Love rather than stress and hopelessness. Marie's SRocC is a great collaboration decision for both schools and churches who have the intention to create more integrated, creative, and uplifting spaces for families, the elderly, and our community's most vulnerable.
